WANDERING, WONDERING, HAND-MAKING

I have always been a fun, loving dork. Freedom, creativity, and authenticity-of-self are important to me.

The name "Mod Vagabond" came to me when my mom used "vagabond" with negative intent, in regards to the freer lifestyle I craved. She is the 2nd youngest of 7, from Portugal, and learned that one works hard and follows the template. Funny thing was, I saw the definition of "vagabond" in a positive way... even as something to strive for. I have questioned the system since I was a child; questioning the same rigid template being imposed on all, and even having quite deep visions as a child. (Nothing against my beautiful mom- we are so close and I love her; our differences have only helped teach me who I am, and I am proud of our similarities).

I didn't crave the full-on vagabond life; I was more of a modern vagabond, not truly tied to any specific place or job, living somewhere and working, but free to wander at any point. Also, I like to think that I've taken my life and activated a vagabond "mod" (modification).

My whole life has been about self-rediscovery and -empowerment, all while breaking free of a template never meant for me.

My jewelry journey began when I was a kid.

My mom and aunt owned a gift boutique in which they made and sold personalized, hand-painted gifts, floral arrangements, handmade jewelry, and more. My mom first taught me jewelry with high quality beading and more. Many years later, I was taught wire wrapping and crystals by a (past) partner.

Today, I combine everything I've learned along my journey and continue to teach myself more.

It fills my heart and fulfills my soul to hand-make jewelry and art, and send it around the world to be loved by you!
